Most sentient beings of this world, while living rich and fulfilling lives, truly do not grow beyond what they were born to be. For every legend of a mighty hero or evil tyrant that is capable of earning a place in history or shaping the land, there are thousands that just live their lives. Farmers, artisans, merchants, even royals, end up just living a life that, while can be full of meaning to them, is mundane.
There are some, though, that rise beyond the normal. Heroes and villains that end up bigger than life, performing feats that are impossible, or defying odds so great that it is as though the world itself has a guiding hand. They grow in might, knowledge, leadership, renown. They step above and beyond. And some few truly begin to ascend beyond what the rest of the world is capable of.
These paragons truly begin to embody something more than mortal. They become even more than a local hero or villain, enacting change on a regional or even global scale. A single paragon can redirect the flow of destiny, change the tide of battle, or reshape the landscape of the world. Like the HeartStones of the world, they become part of legend and history.
